Fredys Valladares Amaya of Lafayette is a construction worker who regularly plays the Hoosier Lottery for fun and entertainment.

Fredys was out picking up food for his family on Christmas Day and purchased a few Scratch-offs to take home and play. Initially, he thought he had won $1,000 on a $5 Money Bags Scratch-off. He then scanned the ticket and saw he won the $10,000 top prize!

Fredys waited until his wife came home to tell her the news. “When I walked in, he said, ‘I’m not going to split the money with you,’” Fredys’s wife said. “I was like, what money?”

Jokingly, Fredys explained that he had won $10,000 earlier that day. The couple says the prize money will be spent on their two children.
